Good morning Mr. President

We spent last weekend and the first part of this week with our good friends Abe and Meg Ford in DC. The Fords moved out there a while a go and we have been so excited to get out there and see them, and also see DC.
We flew in on Thursday evening. At the airport in DC, Cass decided to show everyone how strong she was by grabbing the bag off the luggage pickup. The bag did not agree with her and decided to smash her toe instead. It was the perfect beginning to our trip.

The next morning we went on a driving tour of the area. They took us to see the temple. It was so awesome. That is a cool temple. We also drove through downtown DC and saw a few things

On Saturday we went and saw the National Archives, and several of the Smithsonian museums. I had no clue how freaking big it was. We also went to the capitol building for a tour.

The biggest part about Saturday was that it was Cassidy's Birthday. It was so fun to celebrate her birthday in a place that we had never been with some good friends. We ate at the Cheese Cake Factory, and then (only because Cassidy is a huge BYU fan and she made us) we watched the BYU game over at the Fords.

The next morning we went to church then went out to Arlington cemetery. It was amazing to see how many people have died to keep our homes free. It was very sobering to see the newly buried graves of the soldiers dying in the middle east.

While at Arlington we saw the tomb of the unknown solider, General Lee's house and also the grave of J.F.K.

The next morning we rode the Metro into D.C. and saw The White House. We had to wait for about 20 minutes before we could see it because some guy named "Obama" had to get in his big fancy helicopter and he did not want anyone to see him.

We then walked west and saw the WWII memorial, Abe Lincoln, Vietnam Memorial, F.D.R. memorial, Thomas Jefferson, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, The Holocaust Museum, and then took a ride up the Washington Monument.

On Tuesday we had to fly out-in the afternoon. Before we left we went and saw the Air and space hanger near the airport. It was 100 times cooler than the air and space museum in the national mall. It was huge and had… you guessed it… airplanes, helicopters, and space stuff. We would have liked to spend more time doing that.

We almost missed our plane, but we lucked out and the let us on. Bridger was the best boy the whole time. He was even good on all 3 of our flights. He just sat there and smiled at everyone waiting for them to look at him so that he could make friends with them.

We are so thankful to the Fords for letting us come out and crash with them. Abe was the best tour guide in the DC. And also served as our personal photographer. It was great to see our nation’s capitol and hang out with the Ford's. Cassidy's toe held up for us and is doing much better, and our feet are almost recovered from all of the walking.

Wow, I read this post like 4 minutes after you posted it. That never happens. The trip looks like super fun! Aaron went with me to DC once for my brother's wedding but he was studying for the DAT so we only stayed one day and he didn't see anything! Now when are you visiting us?

Looks like you had a great time! It was fun to see all of your pictures and know that at one time we have been at all of the same places. D.C. is so great and has so much history! I am glad to hear Cass's toe is doing better. See you soon?

Now I know all about your trip to DC. Sorry, I was so rude at my house yesterday and didn't sit down long enough to hear all of the fun details! I am not very good at entertaining. By the looks of your blog, you guys have your share of parting, I'll have to get some tips on how to be a good host! Thanks for posting the pics-- and cass.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You are a terrific sister in law!

PS thanks for coming to Sydney's baptism. She loved having brigder there!
