53 Miler

This year our young men went on a back packing trip. Luckily I had a few months to prep for it and lose some weight. Went to Boulder Mountain for 5 days. There were 20 in the group, about 10 boys and 10 leaders/dads
We hiked 8-15 miles per day. On day 3 we left our camp at Jenny Lake set up and did a day hike. It would have been pretty nice, but it was through a section of the mountain that burned last year so there was no protection from the sun. When we got back to camp, Cameron Sinsich and Adam McClain had come up to the lake and brought food from home and letters from the Mom's. Everyone's favorite though was the treats that Cass had sent up.

How could I not include this picture of Seth Corbridge? Check out that dirt.
This pic is the beginning of day 4. None of us knew what we were in for. That day we hiked 15 miles including a 1.5 mile section that had about 2000 feet of climb. see below:
That climb was rough but at the top we came to a huge mountain meadow to relax in and have some lunch.
Duct tape was a life saver, but keeping my feet taped up resulted in no blisters for the whole trip.
This last pic was on the morning of day 5. We only had about a 5 mile stretch left and it was almost all down hill.
It was a good trip. I was thankful to have the duct tape, our gravity water filter (the only way to go), and an ultra light tent. As we were doing it we were all wondering why we did this to ourselves, but as time goes by the memory gets better.

Love the picture of your feet in duct tape, what can you say, it worked. Looks like it was a great trip, hard but memorable. Way to go!
