One Bridger's Birthday (December 22nd) we had ham for dinner. Pork really sets off my heartburn, but I decided that I would have a little. A couple of hours later I was hit with Epic heart burn. I started taking pills by the handful, but I was not feeling better. After rolling on the floor in pain for a few hours I decided that it may not be heartburn. After looking online I was convinced that I was having an appendicitis and Cass and I headed to the hospital.
Our friend Nate Priday had his appendix removed last year and we had called him to ask him what it felt like. He was nice enough to head to the hospital to give me a blessing. As we were waiting for someone to come help with the blessing the hospital people began pumping me with drugs and doing their tests.
A hospital worker came to help Nate with the blessing and after that, they left Cass and I alone in the room. within about 2 minutes I was pain free. It was amazing. It was such a testament to the power of the priesthood. Shortly after that, the test results came back negative and the hospital staff started pointing their fingers and laughing at me.
After all was said and done, 2 great things came from this experience. I went on a rice, carrots, bland chicken, and broccoli. which as a result lost 12 pounds (trying to keep that off). More importantly, it was a great reminder of the power of the priesthood and the fact that our Father in Heaven cares enough about us to ease the pain of a sissy like me.
