Puda Vida from Costa Rica

In Early March we went to Costa Rica for the annual Achievers Club Trip. This was our 1st time getting to go. We had a great time. The Bringhursts were kind enough to watch the boys for us, so we took them to St. George and took a red eye to Costa Rica from Vegas. We got there on Tuesday afternoon. Since I was in charge of the event we got to go a day before everyone else to do a site inspection. After we arrived, they told us that they had upgraded our rooms to be at the Royal Beach Club, which was a part of the resort that was exclusive and did not allow kids. It also had an extra restaurant where only Royal Beach Club members could eat. The resort had 6 restaurants. The whole resort was all inclusive and wonderful. We ate like kings every day, and then went back to our room and ordered room service.  My goal was to eat 3 watermelon smoothies and 3 pina colata's at each meal. I did pretty good at hitting my goal and ended the trip about +8 lbs...
On Wednesday, we got up early and did a Mega Combo excursion. We went with our new friends Traci and Mike Purcer. Traci helped plan the Achievers Club. They also took their kids to STG and traveled with us from there. We ended up spending almost the entire time with them. We left the hotel early and went to a volcano about 1 1/2 hours away. The 1st thing we did was ride horses. After that we went and did a really fun mud bath. The guides kept telling us that it would make us feel 10 years younger. Next we sat in some natural hot springs for a while. After lunch we rode what we were told was the longest water slide in Costa Rica. Finally we zip lined for the rest of the afternoon. When we got back that night, we were just in time to change and get to the opening cocktail reception.

Just outside of the Westin on the beach, where we were staying, were a bunch of women on the beach offering a 1 hour message for 20 bucks. It was a deal that we couldn't pass up. We did a couple of those and then did another message at the spa in the resort

On Thursday we went on a catamaran sunset/snorkel cruise. The boat was pretty big, but there were also a lot of people on it. Once we got moving everyone spread out and it was fine. We sailed for about an hour and a half toward a cove where we could snorkel.  That was fun, but the water wasn't very clear and there wasn't many fish. We sailed back to the beach as the sun was setting. It was a great day.

On Friday, we did an excursion with the entire group (50ish people). We went 4 wheeling around the area where the resort was, down by the beach, through a small town, and back. It was pretty fun, but VERY dusty. We had to wear ski goggles and medical masks. Later that night we had the closing reception and award ceremony. I was happy to have that part over.... After the awards a Costa Rican circus act performed for us.

Saturday was our final full day. We went to a nearby town to body board at the beach and do some shopping. After spending a couple hours there we went back to the resort to hang out by the pool for a while. Hanging out by the pool was something that we should have done a lot more of. Since Saturday was our last day, we had made 2 dinner reservations for 1st and 2nd dinner. It was a good day to relax. the next morning we got up around 2:30 am to catch our flight home. Cass went to SLC and I to Vegas for a work conference. It was a great trip. I am so grateful to work for such a great company with so many wonderful people and to get to go on such awesome trips.
