Since I needed to be sitting alot and taking it easy because of my back I decide to put a book-club together for my boys and their friends in the neighborhood. I chose the book "Farmer Boy" by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It ended up being about 400 pages which was a huge commitment, but each night we would read on one of their beds before bed. I started to look forward to it!!
I had the mom and son pair dress-up from the period of the book (pioneer clothes). Each family took a picture in front of the blanket from my mom. One of the activities was mentioned in the book, we took a full glass of milk and stuffed it full of popcorn to see if it could hold it, and it could. We decorated pumpkins (the main character's pumpkin had won first prize at the fair). I had the boys sit on a blanket and discuss their favorite parts of the book. Then each boy had a few turns hitting the tracker pinata. We then finished with yummy pumpkin pie!! I was a ton of fun and I hope to do another one in the future!!
