I had an amazing weekend with my dad exploring Beef Basin near the south end of Canyonlands. We checked out Newspaper rock on our way down and when we got to Beef Basin, we were amazed to find that we were literally the only people there. We drove for miles and miles and saw no one. It was AWESOME. It has the highest concentration of Native American ruins anywhere in Utah. There were tons of little houses and cliff side graininess. It was super windy and the sky did not look to happy, but we were able to sleep out under the stars. Just as I was telling him about the sky link satellites, the line of light appeared above our heads.
We had planned on spending 2 nights out there, but after we woke up on day 2, we could see some angry clouds coming in. So we explored a bit more and got out of there. Just as we got on to the better road, the rain started coming in.
We drove to the south end of Canyonlands and hit of the visitors center and then it really started pouring. We ate lunch in the car and waited out the rain, but it cleared in time for us to check things out and go on a few short hikes. It was amazing. Love spending time with my Dad!!
While we ended up cutting the trip to 1 night, we saw everything we wanted to see and had a great time. I love camping with my dad and hope to get back there with my boys soon!
