D and I have been planning a trip to see Landon for the past while, but tickets got too expensive so we decided to do a quick road trip instead with our dad. None of us had ever been to Monument Valley, so that was where we decided to go.
We 1st drove down to Goosenecks State Park for sunset, then headed to Mexican Hat for the night. The next morning we drove over to Forest Gump Hill to do some sprints before going to Monument Valley to check out the loop. After lunch, we drove through the Valley of the Gods before heading up the switchbacks up on top of the plateau. While driving through the Valley we exercised our 2nd amendment rights with some of D's guns. That night we played Cribbage (which we had done the night before) and watched the BYU football game.
The next morning we got up and headed to Bears Ears to hike the House on Fire ruin, which was awesome. We hit it at a great time of day. We then drove to Natural Bridges Monument and then through Hite at Lake Powell before coming home, with a stop at Stan's for shakes along the way for old time's sake.
It was a great couple of days and rare to hang out with my dad and brother with no kids. We had a lot of good talks. My dad kept saying throughout the trip, 'This is the last time I'm ever going to see this'. Which was sad, and hopefully not true. One thing IS for sure, those 2 dudes can snore!
