Capitol Reef

For Christmas last year, the Bringhurst's booked some cabins for us in Torrey near Capitol Reef. We were excited to get down there and have some cousin time. On the night we got there, we had Hawaiian Hay Stacks and kicked off the 2024 Olympic games. We had 9 events, 3 per day. Some were individual events, and some were team events. Highlights were throwing Cheetos onto shaving cream covered heads, feeding each other pudding while blindfolded, and racing around the cabin balancing goldfish on spoons. Later that evening we went into town and got ice cream.

The next morning we got up early to hike Hickman Bridge. I was SO hot! Quaid ran out of gas about 1/2 up so he and I went a bit further while everyone else finished the hike. Afterward, we all went to Fruita and ate some delicious pie. We had planned to go swimming in the creek during the heat of the day, but as soon as we got back from the crazy hot hike, it got cold and rainy for several hours. We hung out, did some more Olympics, and swam in the pool then went out to Sunset Point for a little hike that evening.

The next morning we saw the petroglyphs, ate more pie, and picked apricots in the orchard at Fruita. That afternoon we swam in the river (a bit cold still) and wrapped up our Olympics. Then we headed towards Hansksville for Stan's. On the way back our family went to the Moonscape over look, factory Butte, and Long Dong Silver, and Swingarm City. I've wanted to see Long Dong Silver and the Moonscape overlook for sometime now and it was great to get to see it with our whole family. We will be back!

We had a great trip and are lucky to have the Bringhurst's!
