Glenwood Springs

Despite Covid still going on all over the world, we've decided that we are going to go on a family vacation to Glenwood Springs Colorado. We've been looking at a couple of options to go on a road trip and we are so glad we went to such an awesome place. Things are still weird with Covid but we felt good being at an outside park and the city was pretty strict on  wearing masks. We were so glad that things were still open enough for us to be able to do all the things we wanted to. After a long 6 hour ride in the van we got to the house we rented in town. It was a great house and plenty big for our family.

The next morning we went to Glenwood Caverns. It was a super cool amusement park on the top of the mountain. We got into the park by taking a gondola ride to the top. We were so amazed at how empty the park was. We were relieved that we could navigate the park and rides without being too close to other people. There were some awesome rides at the park that swung you over the edge of a cliff, looking down on the canyon deep below. We loved riding the coaster ride and the zip line high up in the air. The park also has a couple of HUGE caves down under the rides. We had fun exploring those as well as riding the mine drop ride that drops deep down into the earth. There was a lot to do and all the boys had a blast.

Day 2 we went for a little morning hike to see the grave of the famous Doc Holliday who came to the area to benefit from the healing properties of the springs. I guess that didn't work.... After our little hike we went into the Doc Holiday Saloon to try some famous ROCKY MOUNTAIN OYSTERS. Everyone was a good sport and we had a good laugh after I told them what they were eating. Bridger, being the good sport that he is, helped me eat the rest of them while everyone else had fries. Later that evening we went on a beautiful hike to Hanging Lake. It was a bit steep, but we were so glad to get to the top. We were pretty much the only people up there due to separating groups from Covid. We felt lucky to get permits to do this hike.

The next day we spent the day at the Glenwood hot springs pool. Again, it was pretty empty and we felt lucky to be able to go there during covid when we kind of had the place to ourselves. There were 2 huge hot pools to swim and play in with tons of space to spread out. There was also a kids play area and a fun tube ride that we got to do a few times. That night we walked around town for a while and hung out at a pretty cool park down by the river.

It was such a great trip and we are so glad we braved covid to get out of the house and do something fun.
