Because of Covid, Scout summer camps are closed. We decided it would be a good time to go to Moab and stay at Entrada, the camp that Grantpa ran for a few years when he worked for the scouts. We, along with Drew and Grantpa loaded up our gear and bikes and hit the road.
Grantpa dropped us off just outside of Moab to ride into town. We got to a meeting point at Arches state park but my dad was no where to be found. We waited for a bit and decided to hitch hike up to where we last saw him. Luckily we found someone from Lindon that happened to know our family. We hid the bikes and jumped in. no Grantpa. We got back to our bikes and headed to town. After a while, we finally got him on the phone (he had no reception in the canyon). and met up after a pretty scary couple of hours. It was my, along with the 3 little boys I had with me, 1st time hitch hiking.
We got back in the car and grabbed lunch and then headed to Entrada. There was so much cool stuff to see out there and we had the place to ourselves. The next morning we went out to Gemini bridge, which was cool until I dropped my phone off the cliff and watched it fall 200 feet to the canyon floor below. That's just the kind of trip we were having. Fortunately, the rest of the trip went smooth. We made big meals, camped under the stars, short guns and arrows, hiked and saw arches and natural bridges, repelled, and had sacrament meeting. We are so lucky to live in red rock country
